Glass Diamonds

For this series of installations, I collected and cleaned auto glass and used it to create a floor drawing of diamond symbols taken from pawnshop and jewelry store awnings. The act of drawing on the ground references the Indian tradition of rangoli. Each iteration is determined by the specific context of the site.

The piece was developed for No Money Down, a show about predatory lending at Gallery Aferro In Newark. It has since been shown at Pursuit of Happiness, Sarah Bowen Gallery, 2006; Exploding the Lotus, Arts and Culture Center of Hollywood, FL, 2008; Transitional Aesthetics, 798 Biennale, Beijing, 2009 and St. Cecilia’s Convent, NY 2010.
